The Role: Master of Fine Art Programme Leader
We are seeking an exceptional individual to lead our Master of Fine Art (MFA) Programme, a two-year postgraduate course that attracts a diverse and international student body. The MFA is recognised worldwide for its experimental and interdisciplinary approach to contemporary art, rooted in Glasgow’s dynamic cultural ecosystem while operating on a global stage.
As Programme Leader, you will have the rare opportunity to shape the future of one of the School’s most prestigious programmes, fostering vital local and international connections while supporting students in developing ambitious, critically engaged practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide academic leadership, strategic direction, and oversight of the MFA Programme.
- Lead and support a team of lecturers, working collaboratively with colleagues across postgraduate and undergraduate departments.
- Promote inclusive, decentralised approaches to Fine Art education, encouraging students to challenge dominant paradigms and engage with diverse audiences, practices, and histories.
- Contribute to the research culture of the School by engaging actively in one of its Fine Art research networks.
- Demonstrate innovation in curriculum design, teaching, and assessment, ensuring the highest standards of academic quality.
About You
You will bring:
- Postgraduate qualification (or equivalent experience) in Fine Art.
- A strong record of practice and research within Fine Art.
- Excellent understanding of current debates, trends, and developments in contemporary art.
- Experience of working with postgraduate students and delivering innovative, student-centred teaching.
- Proven experience in curriculum development and quality assurance/enhancement.
- Evidence of advancing equality, diversity, and inclusion in teaching and research.
