About the Role
The University of Reading is seeking a dedicated and proactive Student Recruitment and Outreach Officer to support UK student recruitment and promote access to higher education.
This role involves delivering effective recruitment and outreach activities aimed at increasing applications from UK students, while also supporting the University’s commitment to widening participation and improving access for under-represented groups.
Key Responsibilities
Your work will be split across four main areas:
Project Delivery
Lead and coordinate key outreach and recruitment projects such as:
Organizing campus visits for school groups
Managing the University’s Student Ambassador Scheme
University Representation
Represent the University at HE fairs, school events, and other recruitment activities across the UK
Prospective Student Enquiries
Respond to enquiries (via email and in person) as part of a shared enquiries team
Access Reading
Support the organization and delivery of Access Reading, the University’s transition programme for applicants from under-represented backgrounds
About You
Essential Experience and Skills:
Experience working with UK schools or students aged 16–19
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage a range of audiences
Confident delivering presentations to large and diverse groups
A good understanding of the UK higher education landscape and the student recruitment cycle
Strong administrative, planning, and organizational abilities
Educated to degree level (or equivalent)
Additional Requirements:
Flexibility to travel across the UK for events such as UCAS, WhatUni or UK University Search fairs
Commitment to safeguarding responsibilities, including:
Undertaking safeguarding training
Conducting risk assessments for events involving young people
Reporting concerns using the appropriate safeguarding procedures
Safeguarding
This role is considered a regulated activity and requires an Enhanced DBS check with a check against the children’s barred list
The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (ROA) 1974
