About the Role
The Centre for Food Policy is a globally recognised, interdisciplinary research centre dedicated to creating food systems that are healthy, sustainable, and fair. We are seeking two Research Assistants to join our team and contribute to two high-impact NIHR-funded projects – ENTHUSE and ECON – led by Professor Christina Vogel, Director of the Centre.
These projects focus on evaluating the UK Government’s Food (Promotion and Placement) Regulations and their impact on dietary behaviours and health outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Contribute to mixed-methods research, including both qualitative and quantitative data collection
Support data analysis and the development of academic and policy-focused outputs
Collaborate effectively with project co-investigators, government partners (e.g., DHSC), and other stakeholders
Contribute to the broader activities of the Centre for Food Policy
Assist with dissemination and engagement activities to maximise research impact
Support general project administration and coordination as required
Person Specification
Essential:
A completed MSc (or equivalent) in a relevant field (e.g., public health, food policy, nutrition, social sciences)
Demonstrated interest in improving food systems and addressing dietary inequalities
Understanding of the UK food policy landscape
Experience with mixed-methods research, including qualitative and/or quantitative methodologies
Strong writing, communication, and interpersonal skills
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
Flexibility and willingness to travel for fieldwork
Commitment to ongoing professional development
Desirable:
Previous experience working on food or public health policy evaluation projects
Familiarity with government reporting or policy engagement
