About the Role
The Department of Chemistry at the University of Reading is seeking a Teaching Fellow in Organic Chemistry to cover a 12-month maternity leave. This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate and enthusiastic educator to contribute to a high-quality learning experience for undergraduate students, both UK-based and international.
The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering core teaching in Organic Chemistry, including lectures, practical laboratory sessions, and tutorials. You will work collaboratively with colleagues in a supportive, teaching-intensive environment, helping to develop and enhance a curriculum that engages and challenges students.
In this teaching-focused role, you’ll also be involved in designing innovative and inclusive teaching methods and contributing to the administration and continuous improvement of the Chemistry programme.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver engaging and effective teaching in Organic Chemistry at undergraduate level
Contribute to laboratory instruction and assessment
Develop and implement blended learning and digital teaching tools
Collaborate on curriculum design and improvement initiatives
Undertake academic administrative duties relevant to teaching and learning
About You
You will bring:
A PhD (or equivalent) in Organic Chemistry
Experience of teaching in higher education at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level
A commitment to innovative and inclusive teaching practices
Experience or willingness to engage in curriculum development and educational enhancement
Competence in using and developing digital learning tools and platforms
A collaborative and student-focused approach to education
