About the Role
We are seeking a committed and compassionate Clinical Support Worker to join our Prison Healthcare Team at NHS Forth Valley. This is a varied and dynamic role where you will deliver high-quality, person-centred care to individuals in a secure environment.
You will work closely with the nursing team and broader multidisciplinary professionals to support the physical and mental health needs of people in prison. The role combines direct patient care with autonomous clinical responsibilities within your level of competence.
You will be supporting individuals with a wide range of complex needs, including mental health issues, physical health concerns, substance misuse, and social challenges. A high standard of care must be maintained at all times, with strict adherence to prison security protocols.
Key Responsibilities
Provide day-to-day clinical support to nursing and healthcare teams.
Deliver safe and compassionate care to patients with complex needs, following agreed care plans and within defined competencies.
Work independently when appropriate, while ensuring collaborative practice within a multidisciplinary environment.
Contribute to improving patient health and supporting their rehabilitation.
Assist with clinical procedures and tasks such as venepuncture (blood taking), monitoring vital signs, and basic health assessments.
Maintain accurate and timely records in line with data protection and healthcare regulations.
Comply with all prison healthcare security procedures and professional guidelines.
About You
Essential Criteria:
SVQ Level 3 in Healthcare (or equivalent qualification) OR extensive relevant experience in a healthcare support role.
Proven experience working in healthcare or a similar support role.
Competency in venepuncture (blood taking).
Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
Demonstrated ability to provide high-quality, person-centred care.
Strong teamwork skills and the ability to work autonomously within your scope of practice.
Ability to manage challenging situations in a secure environment with professionalism and empathy.
Desirable:
Previous experience working in a prison, forensic, or mental health care setting.
