About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Peer Support Worker to join the Individual Placement and Support (IPS) Employment Team at Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. This role is specifically open due to an internal promotion and is ideal for someone with lived experience of mental health challenges who is passionate about using their journey to support others on their path to recovery and employment.

You will work closely with service users in the community, providing encouragement, guidance, and practical support as they progress toward their employment and personal recovery goals.

While you will primarily work within defined areas across Lincolnshire, flexibility to cover other areas of the Trust may occasionally be required.

Key Responsibilities

Act as a positive role model for recovery and wellbeing.

Use your personal lived experience of mental health recovery to support others.

Support service users to:

Set and achieve recovery-based goals (e.g. using SMART tools).

Build confidence and independence.

Access meaningful activities, employment, and community resources.

Strengthen their support networks.

Facilitate communication between service users and health professionals or support networks.

Help service users navigate their employment journey through peer guidance.

Co-facilitate groups, workshops, or training for service users and/or staff.

Promote active service user involvement in shaping their care and the services they receive.

What We’re Looking For

Essential Skills & Experience:

Lived experience of mental health difficulties.

Ability to share your recovery journey professionally and appropriately.

Experience in a supportive or enabling role.

Strong verbal, written, and digital communication skills.

Empathy, patience, non-judgemental attitude, and emotional resilience.

Ability to support others to identify goals and work toward recovery.

Understanding of the importance of confidentiality and boundaries.

Willingness to reflect on your work and accept feedback.

Able to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

Desirable:

Experience accessing mental health services.

Familiarity with tools like WRAP (Wellness Recovery Action Plan).

Health and Social Care-related qualifications.

Involvement in a Recovery College or similar self-management training.

Qualifications Required

GCSE English (Grades A–C / 9–4) or equivalent (or working toward).

Ability to demonstrate a good standard of English.

Willingness to complete further training (e.g. ImROC Peer Support Training if not already completed).

Other Requirements

Ability to travel independently (without reliance on public transport) to various locations.

Successful candidates must undergo an enhanced DBS check.
(This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.)
