About the Company

Our client is a leading international, multi-disciplinary consultancy with over 50 years of experience delivering innovative solutions in infrastructure, energy, environment, and urban development. They support public and private sector clients across the globe, providing expertise from initial concept through to project completion.

Due to continued growth, they are now looking to appoint a Senior or Principal Geotechnical Consultant Engineer to join their expanding team in Leeds.

The Role

You will work on a wide range of geotechnical engineering projects across the UK and internationally, with an immediate opportunity to contribute to live projects. This role combines technical leadership with long-term progression into team management for the right candidate.

You’ll collaborate with colleagues globally and nationally, contributing to projects involving infrastructure, energy (including offshore), transportation, and environmental engineering.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver geotechnical design for a variety of infrastructure projects.

Act as technical lead on projects, supporting junior staff and liaising with clients.

Provide input on ground investigations, analysis, and foundation design.

Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and ensure technical quality of outputs.

Contribute to business growth and, in the longer term, help establish and lead a local geotechnical team.

Candidate Requirements

Chartered Engineer (CEng) status is essential.

Minimum 5–10 years’ experience in geotechnical or civil engineering.

Strong background in geotechnical design (foundations, ground structures, etc.).

Ability to work independently with an interest in future team leadership.

Excellent communication and coordination skills.

Preferred technical experience:

Pile design in chalk and glacial till.

Offshore geotechnical design (wind farms, ports – desirable but not essential).

Experience with rail-related geotechnics (stations, depots).

Earthworks including embankments and cuttings.

Ground improvement/treatment techniques.
