Job Summary
Powys Teaching Health Board is seeking reliable, hardworking, and flexible individuals to join our bank team as Catering Assistants within our hospital kitchens. You will play an important role in maintaining a clean and efficient kitchen environment and helping deliver meals to patients in accordance with high hygiene and safety standards.
This is a bank position, meaning hours are offered on an as-needed basis. This role may suit someone seeking flexible working hours in a healthcare setting.
Please note: Candidates who require a certificate of sponsorship will not be eligible for this role.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Support the delivery of catering services across wards and hospital departments.
Assist with food preparation and service to ensure meals are served safely and on time.
Follow all health and safety and food hygiene procedures.
Work both independently and as part of a team.
Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in all kitchen areas.
Follow work schedules as part of a rota, including evenings and weekends.

What We’re Looking For
Essential:
Basic knowledge of the catering industry and safe kitchen practices.
Good communication, time management, and organisational skills.
Ability to follow instructions, work alone or in a team.
Commitment to delivering a high-quality service.
Flexible with working hours (including evenings and weekends).
Able to travel within the local area.
Desirable:
Previous experience in a catering, kitchen, or hospital environment.
NVQ Level 2 in Catering (or willingness to work toward it).
Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (or willingness to obtain it).
Literacy and numeracy qualifications (or equivalent).
Ability to speak Welsh.
Additional Information
A Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is required for this role.
Applicants must be able to work flexibly across different shifts as part of the rota.
