About the Role
The Laidlaw Leadership and Research Coordinator will support the delivery of the Laidlaw Scholars Program, a two-year scholarship that develops students as ethical leaders and skilled researchers.
You’ll work closely with the Senior Manager of the Laidlaw Program, providing day-to-day coordination and administration. This includes supporting recruitment, scholar engagement, events, communications, financial tracking, and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
Program Support
Administer the application and recruitment process for Laidlaw Scholars
Coordinate events including orientation week, workshops, social events, and public presentations
Update and maintain program webpages and marketing materials
Support students with travel, risk assessments, and external registrations
Scholar Support
Act as a point of contact for students in the program
Ensure stipends and reimbursements are tracked and processed
Collect and organize student reports, blog posts, and project outputs
Finance and Reporting
Track financial spend and prepare budget reports
Maintain accurate records for internal and external reporting needs
Communication and Promotion
Draft newsletters, emails, posters, certificates, and other promotional material
Liaise with students, university departments, and the Laidlaw Foundation to promote the programme and ensure brand consistency
Systems and Tools
Use Microsoft 365, Pebble Pad, Microsoft Forms, CANVA, PDMS, and other platforms to manage data, events, and communications
Monitor use of scholar platforms and feedback data for improvements
Essential Criteria
Qualifications and Experience
5 GCSEs at Grade C/4 or above, including English
Previous administrative experience in an office setting
Experience managing budgets and financial reporting
Experience working with students or external partners
Strong IT skills and use of tools such as Microsoft 365, Teams, Zoom, and LinkedIn
Excellent attention to detail and data accuracy
Skills
Clear and confident written and verbal communication
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
Flexible and willing to work occasional evenings or weekends
Team-oriented, self-motivated, and organized
Desirable Criteria
Willingness to learn new systems and processes
Ability to priorities multiple tasks effectively
Work Environment
Hybrid working: 2 days minimum per week in the Durham office
No working hours required in August or December
Occasional evening or weekend work may be required
