Job Description

Overview:

An exciting new opportunity has arisen for a skilled and experienced pharmacy technician to join our Pharmacy Management Team as Deputy Chief Pharmacy Technician. This Band 7 leadership role is pivotal in shaping the future of the pharmacy technician and assistant workforce across the Trust.

This is a newly created post with a strategic focus, ideal for a forward-thinking professional with strong leadership skills and a solid background in hospital pharmacy services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, manage, and support pharmacy technicians and assistants across all LYPFT sites

  • Provide operational oversight and contribute to service development and transformation

  • Support the implementation of workforce initiatives and cost-saving strategies

  • Ensure compliance with professional, legal, and regulatory standards

  • Work closely with senior pharmacy leadership including the Chief Pharmacy Technician and Business Operations Manager

  • Collaborate with regional and national partners to improve workforce development

  • Support quality improvement and innovation in clinical pharmacy services

  • Contribute to the delivery of 7-day services, including participation in weekend and bank holiday rotes

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Extensive experience in hospital pharmacy services, particularly clinical and ward-based care

  • Proven leadership and staff management experience

  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills

  • Strong understanding of NHS systems, challenges, and workforce development needs

  • Knowledge of pharmacy legislation, governance, and best practice

  • Ability to think strategically and lead service development
