As a HCSW, you will support nurses, doctors, and other healthcare professionals to provide safe, high-quality care to patients. You’ll be working across adult or children’s wards or outpatient departments, helping patients with their basic needs and contributing to their overall wellbeing and recovery.
Key Responsibilities:

Supporting patients with personal hygiene, including washing and dressing

Helping patients move safely and comfortably
-
Assisting patients with eating and drinking
-
Making beds and keeping patient areas clean and tidy
-
Collecting samples such as urine or sputum
-
Supporting patients and families with compassion and respect
-
Running general errands and assisting clinical staff as needed
Training and Career Progression:
-
Full 1-week induction to help you settle in and complete your Care Certificate
-
5-month development programmer with one study day per month
-
Opportunity to progress to Band 3 Senior Healthcare Support Worker upon completion

Learn skills such as taking vital signs, maintaining skin care, and local procedures (e.g. catheter care, ECGs, cannulation – depending on area)

Can work flexible shifts, including mornings, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays

Have strong communication and teamwork skills

Are comfortable supporting patients with personal care
Please note: We cannot accommodate fixed shift patterns (e.g. nights only).
