About the Role
NHS Lanark shire is seeking a Highly Specialist Psychologist to provide expert psychological care and support to individuals experiencing complex, severe, and enduring mental health difficulties. You will work within a supportive multidisciplinary team and contribute to the delivery, development, and improvement of Psychological Services.
This is a part-time, fixed-term or second opportunity for 12 months, ideal for professionals looking to make a meaningful impact in mental health care.
Key Responsibilities:

Deliver a high-quality, specialist psychological service to patients with complex and enduring mental health conditions.

Provide clinical assessment, formulation, and evidence-based intervention.

Offer expert consultation, training, and supervision to other mental health professionals.

Support the Consultant Psychologist, Locality Coordinator, or Head of Specialism in service delivery and development.

Supervise trainee and assistant psychologists, as well as contribute to teaching and training within the service.

Act as a clinical leader when required, including deputizing for senior psychology staff.
What You’ll Need:
-
Doctoral-level qualification (or equivalent) in Clinical, Counselling, or Health Psychology.

Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a Clinical, Counselling, or Health Psychologist.

Significant clinical experience working with individuals experiencing complex and enduring mental health issues.

Experience in multidisciplinary consultation, liaison, and collaborative working.

Experience delivering supervision and training to psychologists and other healthcare staff.

Completion of recognized supervision training.

Knowledge of relevant legislation, clinical standards, and national/local mental health policies.

Proven ability to carry out psychological assessments and write detailed clinical reports.

Experience supporting or leading service development projects is desirable.
Driving License: Where applicable, a full UK/EU/EEA driving license is required.

This post is fixed-term for 12 months. Internal NHS Lanark shire candidates must have prior written agreement from their manager for a second .
