About the Role

The School of Law and Social Sciences at Aston University is a thriving and ambitious multidisciplinary school known for excellence in both teaching and research. We are currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Lecturer in English Language to join our team on a part-time basis.

In this role, you will contribute to undergraduate teaching in English language and linguistics, with a particular focus on modules such as the History of English and Discourse Analysis. You will also have opportunities to engage more broadly with departmental activities.

About You

You should hold a completed doctorate in a relevant field and possess proven experience teaching undergraduate English programmes. Your expertise should span a range of English language and linguistics topics. We are especially keen to hear from candidates who can contribute to teaching the history of English and discourse analysis.

Please note that the salary for this role falls below the minimum threshold for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker visa route. However, Aston University may be able to offer sponsorship if you:

  • Are under 26 years old
  • Hold a relevant PhD
  • Have held a Student or Graduate visa in the last 2 years
  • Already hold a Skilled Worker visa issued before 4 April 2024
