We are currently looking for a qualified Social Worker to join our Countywide Review Team in the Adult Social Care Mental Health Service at East Sussex County Council. This is a permanent, full-time opportunity to be part of a forward-thinking, supportive, and impactful team.
About the Role
You will join a dedicated team of Resource Officers and a Senior Resource Officer, with this new Social Worker position supporting our growth. We work with adults aged 18 and over who are:
- Living with severe and enduring mental health needs
- Managing conditions such as dementia
- Accessing services related to alcohol and substance use
Your focus will be on carrying out a range of statutory and person-centred reviews, including:
- Post-hospital discharge reviews
- Section 117 Aftercare
- Direct Payment reviews
- Annual statutory reviews in supported living and care home settings
We use a blended approach—including phone calls, video consultations, and home visits—to get a full understanding of each person’s needs, preferences, and goals.
Why Join Us?
At East Sussex County Council, we’re committed to supporting adults in making their own decisions, promoting independence, and recognising the value of existing support networks—be that family, friends, or local communities. You’ll be working closely with partner agencies, carers, and other professionals to help people maintain control over their lives and remain as independent as possible.
With demand on the rise, we welcome creative thinking and innovation—there’s plenty of room here to grow your experience and make your mark.

To be successful in this role, you should have:
- Social Work England registration (please include your registration number in your application)
- Demonstrated experience working with adults in a social care setting
