The Role
We are seeking an Associate Lecturer to join our Department of Development Studies on a two-year fixed-term contract. This position is designed to support early-career academics with outstanding potential in teaching and research, particularly in the political economy of development.
As an Associate Lecturer, you will:
- Deliver seminar teaching on undergraduate and/or postgraduate modules.
- Contribute to assessment and curriculum development.
- Engage with ongoing research in your field and contribute to the academic life of the department.
We are especially interested in candidates who can teach:
- Introduction to Political Economy of Development: Concepts & Trends
- Introduction to Political Economy of Development: Topics and Regional Cases
Experience or interest in development economics and heterodox economic theories is highly desirable.

Candidate Profile
We are looking for applicants who meet the following criteria:
- A PhD (or near completion) in Development Studies, Development Economics, or a closely related field.
- Demonstrated teaching experience at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level.
- Familiarity with political economy approaches and heterodox economic frameworks.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to foster inclusive and engaging learning environments.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to meet diverse deadlines.
