Consultant Midwife – Make a Lasting Impact

About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and visionary Consultant Midwife to join our dedicated maternity team at Sherwood Forest Hospitals.

As a Consultant Midwife, you’ll provide expert clinical care and leadership across our maternity services. Working closely with the Head of Midwifery, Clinical Director, and wider perinatal team, you’ll play a key role in shaping service development, education and training, clinical practice, and research initiatives.

This role calls for someone who is not only an expert and autonomous midwifery practitioner but also a respected leader, mentor, and role model. You’ll champion evidence-based practice and act as a vital resource for midwifery colleagues and multi-disciplinary teams, both within the Trust and externally.

Why Work With Us?

We are a top-performing NHS Foundation Trust, delivering acute and community healthcare services to more than 420,000 people across Mansfield, Ashfield, Newark, Sherwood, and parts of Derbyshire and Lincolnshire.

We believe in placing the patient at the centre of everything we do — treating each one with the same care and dignity we’d expect for our own families. And we hold ourselves to the same standard of kindness, respect, and support for one another.

Our staff consistently rate us among the best employers in the region. We’ve been named the best acute Trust to work for in the East Midlands for seven consecutive years in the National NHS Staff Survey. We’re also proud to have been rated ‘Outstanding’ for care by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), with King’s Mill Hospital standing out as the only ‘Outstanding’ NHS-run hospital in the East Midlands.
