About the Role

Teesside University is looking for a committed and compassionate Disability Adviser to join our supportive and dynamic student services team. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference by helping disabled students achieve their academic goals.

As a Disability Adviser, you will work directly with students to assess their disability-related needs, recommend reasonable adjustments, and provide guidance on accessing specialist funding and support services. Your role will be essential in ensuring that all students are given equal opportunities to thrive in their studies.

What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate will:

Have a solid understanding of the Equality Act 2010, particularly in relation to disability.

Possess good knowledge of the Higher Education landscape and the barriers disabled students may face.

Be confident in recommending and implementing reasonable adjustments in an academic setting.

Demonstrate excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.

Be able to work effectively with a range of stakeholders, including academic staff, support services, and external agencies.

Understand the range of funding options available for disabled students and how to support applications for additional resources.

Additional Requirements

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act, and a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check will be required.

Please note: interviews will be held in person on campus.

Eligibility for Skilled Worker Visa

This role may be eligible for University sponsorship under the UK’s Skilled Worker visa route, subject to UKVI salary thresholds and requirements.
