About the Role

The School of Engineering at the University of Warwick is seeking a Research Fellow to contribute to cutting-edge research in power electronic systems for microgrid applications.

This role involves:
Designing, assembling, and testing power electronic systems (DC-DC converters, inverters, and test systems).
Conducting reliability testing on power semiconductor devices, including:

  • Short-circuit testing
  • Current & voltage stressing
  • Power & temperature cycling
    Developing key system components, such as:
  • Gate drivers, sensor circuits, safety interlocks, and current protection systems
  • Advanced controllers (FPGA, LabVIEW, D-SPACE)
    Collaborating with researchers and engineers to optimize test systems and experimental setups.
    Designing test rigs and circuits to advance research in power electronics and microgrid technology.

About You

We are looking for a highly motivated researcher with:
A PhD (or near completion) in Electrical Engineering or a related field
Expertise in power electronics & semiconductor device testing
Experience with reliability testing methods
Proficiency in circuit design and advanced control systems
Strong teamwork and problem-solving skills

Note:

  • If you have not yet been awarded your PhD, you may be appointed as Research Assistant (Level 5).
  • Upon successful completion of your PhD, you will be promoted to Research Fellow (Level 6).
