About the Role

The School of Engineering at the University of Warwick is seeking a talented and enthusiastic Assistant Professor to join the research and teaching pathway.

This role focuses on design and engineered solutions for some of the world’s most pressing humanitarian challenges within a civil engineering context.

We are particularly interested in research expertise in one or more of the following areas:

Sustainable Cities
Net Zero Carbon Design
Infrastructures for Emergencies
International Development, Sustainability, and the Climate Emergency

Your research should have both fundamental and applied impacts, potentially in an interdisciplinary field, and align with existing research facilities in the School or the University’s Research Technology Platforms.

In this role, you will:

Conduct high-quality research and develop an independent research group
Teach and mentor students at undergraduate and postgraduate levels
Deliver interdisciplinary teaching on the MSc Humanitarian Engineering programme
Engage with innovative teaching methods and modern pedagogical approaches

About You

We are looking for a highly motivated researcher and educator with:

A PhD in a relevant engineering or scientific discipline
A strong research vision with the potential to become internationally leading
A track record of high-quality publications and research impact
The ability to secure research funding and build collaborations
A commitment to high-quality teaching and innovative pedagogy

You will initially be appointed on a probationary period (usually five years), with successful completion leading to promotion to Associate Professor.
