About the Role
Tees Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a motivated Wellbeing in Mind Team Manager to lead the Hambleton & Richmond team. Our Wellbeing in Mind Teams (MHSTs) work directly with schools and colleges to improve access to mental health and wellbeing support for children and young people – a government priority reflected in the NHS Long Term Plan
.
As a Band 7 Team Manager, you will provide operational leadership, managing a skilled team and ensuring high-quality mental health support is delivered in education settings. You will also contribute to developing new processes, pathways, and collaborative practices within the locality.
Key Responsibilities
- Operational Leadership: Lead the team, prioritise workload, and manage competing demands effectively.
- Whole-School Wellbeing Approach: Support schools to develop and implement mental health policies, resources, and training programmes including PHSE curriculum delivery.
- Consultation and Support: Provide guidance to education staff to build confidence and skills in supporting student wellbeing.
- Direct Intervention: Conduct low-intensity assessments and interventions, primarily using cognitive-behavioural therapy, for young people in education.
- Team Development: Deliver clinical supervision, training, and development for staff and ensure adherence to clinical governance and quality improvement standards.
- Collaboration: Work with external partners, families, and stakeholders to provide integrated care and support pathways.
Candidate Profile
Essential Qualifications
- Professional registration in healthcare, social work, or equivalent clinical qualification (e.g., PWP/CWP in IAPT/Getting Help services)
- Master’s level education in leadership or equivalent clinical experience (e.g., Band 6 or above with significant management experience)
- Training in Clinical Supervision and ability to provide supervision
- Recognised Practice Assessor/Practice Supervisor certification
- Experience working with patients displaying risk behaviours
Experience
- Significant experience managing people and leading multidisciplinary teams
- Proven experience supporting patients with complex mental health needs
- Evidence of delivering supervision and developing team performance
Knowledge
Working knowledge of relevant legislation and statutory obligations, including the Mental Health Act
, Mental Capacity Act, safeguarding, and risk assessment
Understanding of clinical governance, quality improvement, and medicines management
Strong inter-agency and partnership working skills
