About the Role
University College London (UCL) is seeking a proactive and service-focused individual to join its Science Library as a Library Assistant.
This is a front-facing role where you will support students, researchers, and visitors by ensuring the library operates smoothly, remains welcoming, and provides an excellent user experience.
Working as part of the Customer Service Team, you will help maintain a safe, organised, and inclusive study environment while responding to a wide range of user enquiries.
Please note: This is a fully on-site role and is not suitable for remote or hybrid working.
About the Department
You will be part of UCL’s Library, Culture, Collections and Open Science (LCCOS) division—an innovative and highly regarded network that supports research, education, and public engagement.
LCCOS brings together:
14 libraries and multiple study spaces
Museums and special collections
The UCL Student Centre
Cultural venues including the Bloomsbury Theatre
Partnerships with NHS Trusts supporting healthcare information services
With a strong reputation for excellence, LCCOS plays a vital role in connecting people with knowledge, culture, and research.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
Provide front-line support to students, staff, and visitors
Respond to enquiries and offer guidance on library services and facilities
Help maintain a safe, clean, and well-organised study environment
Support day-to-day library operations and administrative tasks
Work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver a high-quality service
About You
We are looking for someone who enjoys working with people and takes pride in delivering excellent service.
You will bring:
Experience in a customer service or public-facing role (highly desirable)
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Good organisational ability and attention to detail
The ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise effectively
A positive, team-oriented approach
Eligibility to Work
