Overview
This role offers an excellent opportunity to work within a dedicated Community Children and Young People’s Service across Nottingham and Nottinghamshire. You will play a key part in delivering a high-quality, child-centred occupational therapy service to children and young people aged 0–19 years.
The position involves supporting individuals with a wide range of needs, including neurological, rheumatological, coordination, and long-term rehabilitation conditions. Care is delivered across clinics, schools, and home environments, ensuring a holistic and accessible approach for families.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Practice
- Take full professional responsibility for your clinical work as an autonomous practitioner
- Assess, plan, and deliver tailored therapy interventions for children with complex needs
- Use advanced clinical reasoning and evidence-based practice to guide treatment decisions
- Manage and prioritise a diverse caseload effectively
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation in line with HCPC and Trust standards
Service Delivery & Collaboration
- Work closely within a multidisciplinary team and liaise with external agencies
- Deliver therapy support in schools, clinics, and home settings
- Contribute to service development, audits, and quality improvement initiatives
- Support the delivery of therapy services in specialist educational settings
Leadership & Development
- Provide supervision and mentorship to junior staff and students
- Assist in training delivery and professional development activities
- Participate in appraisal systems and clinical supervision processes
- Stay up to date with current research, guidelines, and best practice

Requirements
Essential Qualifications
- Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy
- Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
- Postgraduate training in paediatric practice
Experience
- Experience working with children with complex needs
- Experience within a multidisciplinary team
- Supervisory or mentoring experience
- Understanding of clinical audit processes
Skills & Knowledge
- Strong clinical reasoning and analytical skills
- Knowledge of paediatric conditions and therapy approaches
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities
- Ability to manage workload and adapt to changing priorities

- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (reasonable adjustments apply where necessary)

- DBS check required (cost deducted from salary)
- Candidates without NHS experience will typically start at the lower end of the pay band
