Job Description
A veterinary role built around you
At Hemsworth Vets for Pets, we don’t believe in forcing people into rigid job descriptions. Whether your next step is clinical leadership, certificate study, or simply finding a practice where you can enjoy veterinary medicine again, we’ll shape the role around your ambitions and your life.
This is a place where your experience is respected, your ideas genuinely matter, and your career is treated as a long-term partnership rather than a short-term contract.
About the Practice
Our practice is anything but ordinary. Housed in a beautifully restored former fire station, the space is bright, modern, and purpose-built to support both excellent clinical outcomes and colleague wellbeing.
We’re well equipped, well organised, and proud of the standard of care we provide. That means proper consult time, the right tools for diagnostics, and the freedom to manage cases thoroughly rather than rushing decisions. Our loyal client base values continuity, trust, and high-quality medicine — and we value the people who deliver it.
You’ll be joining a friendly, collaborative team that supports one another, shares knowledge openly, and enjoys working together.
Location & Quality of Life
Hemsworth is a welcoming market town with strong transport links across West Yorkshire and beyond. The practice is within easy walking distance of the local bus station, with direct routes to Barnsley, Wakefield, Pontefract and Doncaster. For drivers, the M1 and A1 offer straightforward access to Leeds, Sheffield and Manchester.
Outside of work, the area offers green spaces, historic sites such as Nostell Priory, and family-friendly attractions like Hemsworth Water Park — ideal if you enjoy balancing professional life with outdoor living and community connection.
The Role at a Glance
We’re offering genuine flexibility, including:
- Full-time (40 hours per week)
- Part-time (minimum 24 hours per week)
- Flexible working patterns tailored to your needs
There are no out-of-hours commitments, and weekend work is shared fairly within the team to support a sustainable work–life balance.

- Strong communication and client-care skills
- A collaborative, team-focused approach
- A genuine desire to develop and grow professionally
- Most importantly, we’re looking for someone who cares about doing the right thing — for patients, clients, and colleagues alike.
Career Development & Progression
Your professional development is actively supported here. Whether you’re working towards a certificate, exploring a clinical special interest, or considering a leadership pathway, we’ll back your ambitions with funding, mentorship, and time.
Have ideas to introduce new services or improve how we work? You’ll be encouraged to share them — and supported in making them happen.
