About the Role

The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Cancer Support Worker to join the breast MDT (Multidisciplinary Team) in Liverpool. This is an exciting opportunity to support patients receiving CDK4 inhibitor treatments and to contribute to a new clinical model designed to improve patient care pathways.

You will be part of a team where services are constantly evolving, giving you the chance to develop professionally while delivering exceptional support to patients and their carers.

Key Responsibilities

As a Cancer Support Worker, your duties will include:

  • Conducting holistic needs assessments for patients and carers throughout their cancer care journey.
  • Providing practical and emotional support to patients and families, ensuring person-centered care is at the heart of every interaction.
  • Collaborating with consultants, nurses, and allied health professionals to deliver coordinated care.
  • Assisting in patient education, coaching, and supporting self-management where appropriate.
  • Maintaining accurate records and contributing to data management systems.
  • Ensuring compliance with Trust policies, safeguarding, and national cancer care standards.
  • Guidance on person-centered care and patient support

About You

Essential Qualifications and Experience

  • GCSEs (grades A–C / 4–9) in English and Maths or equivalent.
  • NVQ Level 4 or NVQ Level 3 plus additional training to diploma level, or equivalent experience through short courses.
  • Experience at Agenda for Change Band 3 or equivalent in health or social care.
  • Previous multi-professional working experience.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to coordinate patient workloads and work independently.

Desirable Qualifications and Skills

  • Evidence of continued professional development.
  • Experience in coaching or teaching patients and carers.
  • European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL) or equivalent.
  • Awareness of national cancer guidance such as Improving Outcomes: A Strategy for Cancer
