UASc also offers the MASc in Creative Health and hosts a growing doctoral programme in Interdisciplinary Societies, Arts and Sciences.
In 2023/24, UASc launched the Bachelor in Creative Arts and Humanities (BACAH), based at UCL East in Stratford. This programme brings together critical humanities scholarship with creative practices including writing, performance, and moving image, fostering innovative, practice-based interdisciplinarity.
About the Role
We are seeking a Lecturer in Creative Arts and Humanities with a specialism in Interdisciplinary Writing. This is an opportunity to shape a distinctive and forward-looking degree at the intersection of creative practice and critical inquiry.
Your Academic Focus May Include:
- Writing for or with moving image and performance
- Creative non-fiction and cultural criticism
- Digital or experimental writing
Writing connected to postcolonial studies, climate change, migration, race, gender, sexuality, or global/diasporic cultures
Applicants with expertise in African, Asian, South American, or diasporic writing traditions are particularly welcome, though other specialisms will also be considered.
What You Will Be Doing
Teaching & Leadership
- Lead and design modules in creative and critical writing.
- Contribute to interdisciplinary curriculum development within BACAH and potentially BASc programmes.
- Support students as a Personal Academic Tutor, guiding them in shaping and curating their interdisciplinary degrees.
- Contribute to teaching activities across UCL East and occasionally at the Bloomsbury campus.
Research & Scholarship
- Conduct internationally excellent research in creative arts and humanities.
- Produce high-quality outputs, including creative and/or critical publications.
- Develop grant applications and collaborative research networks.
- Contribute to the intellectual life of the department and wider UCL community.
- This is a full-time, permanent academic appointment governed by UCL’s Terms and Conditions of Service for Academic Staff.
About You
You will hold a doctorate (or possess equivalent professional standing) in a field relevant to creative arts and humanities with a focus on interdisciplinary writing.
Essential attributes include:
- Demonstrated experience in creative writing practice.
- Proven ability to teach both creative and critical writing at university level.
- Experience in interdisciplinary curriculum design and delivery.
- An established research profile in interdisciplinary creative writing.
- The ability to develop and manage research projects and networks.
- Strong mentoring, communication, and student support skills.
