Within UCL, the UCL Faculty of Population Health Sciences (FPHS) is internationally recognised for its impact on public and global health. Bringing together eight institutes and schools — including the UCL Global Business School for Health — the Faculty combines research excellence with innovative, cross-disciplinary education.
We are now seeking an experienced and visionary leader to join us as Director of Education and Student Experience.
The Role
This is a senior leadership position at the heart of the Faculty’s academic mission.
As Director, you will:
- Lead the Faculty’s education strategy and student experience agenda
- Oversee governance, quality assurance and regulatory compliance
- Drive continuous improvement in teaching and programme delivery
- Champion student wellbeing, inclusion and academic success
- Work in partnership with senior academic leaders and professional services teams
- Strengthen evidence-based decision-making across education operations
You will influence Faculty-wide priorities, ensuring our programmes meet the highest academic standards while remaining responsive to a rapidly evolving higher education landscape.
Strategic Impact
The Faculty operates in a complex regulatory environment shaped by national policy and quality frameworks. In this role, you will ensure alignment with key UK sector requirements, including:
- Office for Students regulatory framework
- UK Quality Code for Higher Education (sector guidance)
- Higher Education and Research Act 2017 overview
- Student visa sponsorship guidance
- Skilled Worker visa route (where applicable for international hires)
You will ensure that academic governance, student support systems and operational processes meet statutory and regulatory expectations while enhancing the overall student journey.
About You
We are looking for a senior professional with substantial experience in higher education leadership.
You will bring:
- Extensive experience in student support, education management or academic administration
- A deep understanding of UK and global higher education policy and regulation
- Proven success contributing to strategic planning and quality assurance
- The ability to manage complex academic and pastoral matters with sound judgement and empathy
- Experience leading and developing high-performing teams
- Strong influencing skills and confidence working with senior stakeholders
- A clear commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion
- You will be educated to degree level and demonstrate a commitment to continued professional development.
