About the Practice & Location
Minehead Medical Centre sits at the heart of Minehead, a coastal Somerset town on the Bristol Channel, close to Exmoor National Park. The area offers exceptional quality of life, scenic walking routes, and a strong sense of community.
The practice uses EMIS and operates 15-minute appointment slots, allowing for meaningful patient interaction and thoughtful care delivery.
The Role
As a GP with an interest in Palliative Care, you will:
- Deliver holistic primary care for registered patients
- Provide specialist input for those with advanced illness and end-of-life needs
- Lead advance care planning discussions, including DNACPR decisions
- Optimise symptom management and medication regimens
- Reduce avoidable hospital admissions through proactive care
- Act as clinical lead for palliative care within the practice
- Collaborate with community nurses, hospice teams, secondary care clinicians, and social services
You will play a central role in strengthening coordinated, patient-centred care pathways across the Primary Care Network and wider community.
What We’re Looking For
You must:
- Be registered with the General Medical Council (GMC) and hold a licence to practise
- Be on the GP Specialty Register
- Be listed on the NHS Performers List
- Have post-CCT experience in Primary or Urgent Care
- Demonstrate postgraduate training or experience in palliative care (e.g., Diploma in Palliative Medicine or RCGP End of Life Care modules)
- Have experience working collaboratively across disciplines
