CAMHS Nurse – Band 5-6 Developmental post(UK Visa Sponsorship)

Job Description

Develop Your Career While Supporting Young People in Crisis

This is more than a nursing role — it’s a structured development opportunity designed to help you grow from Band 5 to Band 6 within a supportive and forward-thinking CAMHS Crisis team.

We are offering a full-time developmental post for an NMC-registered nurse who has already completed preceptorship. With clear competency milestones and structured mentorship, you’ll be supported to progress confidently into a permanent Band 6 position once required competencies are achieved.

This vacancy is open only to candidates who already hold active NMC registration.

The Role: Making an Impact at Critical Moments

As a CAMHS Crisis Clinician, you will provide rapid mental health assessments and interventions to children and young people experiencing acute psychological distress. You’ll work alongside families, carers, and partner agencies to ensure timely, safe, and compassionate care during high-risk situations.

Your work will include:

  • Conducting urgent mental health assessments
  • Developing crisis intervention and safety plans
  • Delivering evidence-based therapeutic interventions
  • Collaborating with schools, social care, and safeguarding teams
  • Supporting safe discharge and follow-up arrangements
  • Participating in multi-disciplinary discussions and care planning

This is a dynamic 24/7 service operating across North Yorkshire, York, and Selby, including weekends and bank holidays. The variety of presentations means no two days are the same — making it both demanding and deeply rewarding.

Structured Development Pathway

We are committed to investing in your professional growth. As part of this developmental role, you will receive:

  • A clear Band 5–6 competency framework
  • Regular appraisal and talent management reviews
  • Access to formal CAMHS training programmes
  • Ongoing supervision and clinical mentorship
  • Opportunities for continuing professional development
  • Upon successful completion of competencies, you will transition into a permanent Band 6 position within the team.
