A Leadership Opportunity with a £30,000 Golden Hello
We are offering an exceptional opportunity for an ambitious and forward-thinking Consultant Psychiatrist to join a newly formed NHS Trust at a pivotal moment of transformation.
To welcome outstanding candidates, this role includes a £30,000 Golden Hello, paid in four instalments over two years (subject to terms and conditions).
You will join Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust as it brings together mental health, learning disability, community and physical healthcare services into one integrated organisation serving Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.
This is more than a consultant role it is an opportunity to help shape services, strengthen multidisciplinary collaboration, and ensure high-quality, compassionate care during a period of organisational transition.
The Role
You will provide senior clinical leadership across a range of adult mental health services, which may include:
- Inpatient services
- Recovery services
- Early Intervention in Psychosis
- Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment Teams
- Community Mental Health Teams (ageless model)
Clinical Leadership
As Consultant Psychiatrist, you will:
- Lead on complex case formulation using a biopsychosocial model
- Provide expert supervision and oversight to multidisciplinary teams (MDTs)
- Maintain a focused caseload of patients with the highest levels of complexity and risk
- Ensure care is recovery-oriented, evidence-based and person-centred
- Provide risk assessment and management in line with safeguarding policies
- You will help teams manage uncertainty, contain anxiety, and maintain therapeutic optimism while delivering safe and effective care.
Governance, Standards & Compliance
Practice must align with relevant statutory and regulatory frameworks, including:
- Mental Health Act 1983 (Section 12(2) approval required)
- General Medical Council registration and licensing
- NHS Clinical Governance framework
- Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) guidance
- Skilled Worker visa requirements (if applicable)
From April 2017, overseas applicants must also comply with UKVI criminal record certificate requirements for countries of prior residence.

Person Specification
Essential
- Full GMC Registration with licence to practise
- MRCPsych (or recognised equivalent)
- CCT in General Adult Psychiatry (or within six months at interview)
- Eligibility for Specialist Register inclusion
- Section 12(2) approval under the Mental Health Act
Additional Requirements
- Satisfactory DBS clearance
- UK professional registration
- Eligibility for Skilled Worker sponsorship if required
