Your Role in Our Community
As a School Nurse within our multidisciplinary team, you will:
- Assess and respond to the health needs of children, young people and families
- Deliver and lead care aligned with the Healthy Child Programme
- Provide safeguarding leadership in partnership with statutory and voluntary agencies
- Work closely with schools, carers and community partners
- Lead and support a skill-mix team
- Implement and evaluate evidence-based practice
- Use service user feedback to continuously improve outcomes
- Safeguarding responsibilities will align with national statutory guidance.
You will contribute to developing a fully integrated 0–19 Public Health system, supporting early intervention and reducing health inequalities across Derby City.

Essential Criteria
- SCPHN qualification (School Nursing pathway)
- Registered Nurse (NMC registered)
- Strong understanding of the Healthy Child Programme
- Knowledge of safeguarding children and young people
- Evidence of leadership capability
- Excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills
- Commitment to advancing Public Health Nursing
Desirable
- Mentor or teaching qualification
- Nurse Prescriber qualification
- Experience leading a skill-mix team
- Experience managing a corporate caseload
- Clinical supervision experience
Sponsorship & Right to Work
As a sponsor licence holder, we must meet UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) salary thresholds. Due to current pay banding, sponsorship may not be possible for candidates starting at the bottom of the pay scale.
