Role overview — meaningful clinical leadership in mental health
This is a senior clinical pharmacy position focused on improving medicines care for people receiving mental health services across acute and community settings. You will shape and deliver advanced pharmaceutical care for adults, older people, forensic patients, and individuals with learning disabilities — ensuring treatments are safe, person-centred, and evidence-informed.
Working closely with senior pharmacy leadership, you will resolve complex medication challenges, lead reviews, support safe prescribing, and help develop enhanced clinical services. Collaboration is central: you will partner with multidisciplinary mental health teams and community pharmacy colleagues to promote continuity of care and optimal outcomes.

Key contributions
Clinical leadership
- Deliver advanced medicines optimisation within mental health specialties
- Manage complex prescribing issues and therapeutic decision-making
- Support development of pharmacist prescribing practice
Service development
- Evaluate and improve clinical pharmacy pathways
- Promote safe transitions between hospital and community care
- Embed best practice in medicines governance
Multidisciplinary collaboration
- Work alongside medical, nursing, and allied health professionals
- Engage community pharmacy partners to enhance continuity of care
Professional growth
- Participate in structured induction and continuous development
- Contribute to education and mentoring within the pharmacy team

Essential qualifications & background
- Master of Pharmacy (or equivalent)
- Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council
- Significant clinical experience supporting people with mental health conditions and/or learning disabilities
- Excellent communication and collaborative working skills
Desirable
- Pharmacist prescribing experience
- Postgraduate study related to mental health pharmacy
- Travel across the service area is required.
