Role Overview

We are appointing a permanent Lecturer in Applied Economics with a focus on firms, industries, and innovation, beginning September 2026. This role blends research excellence with high-quality teaching and academic leadership.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Research & Knowledge Exchange
  • Developing an original, internationally competitive research agenda
  • Publishing in high-impact academic outlets
  • Contributing to collaborative and interdisciplinary projects

Teaching & Supervision

  • Delivering undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in applied economics
  • Designing modules related to firm dynamics, innovation, and business systems
  • Supervising dissertations and supporting doctoral development

Academic Contribution

  • Participating in curriculum planning and programme development
  • Administrative and departmental service
  • Engagement with diverse student cohorts

Candidate Profile

We seek a scholar with strong quantitative and analytical expertise who is motivated to advance research and teaching in applied economics.

You should demonstrate:

  • A PhD in Economics or a closely related discipline
  • Postdoctoral experience (or equivalent scholarly development)
  • A growing publication record with international ambition
  • Experience using large datasets, computational tools, or machine learning
  • Teaching capability across undergraduate and postgraduate levels
  • Strong communication, organisation, and collaborative skills
