This role sits within The Bartlett School of Environment, Energy & Resources — an interdisciplinary hub focused on sustainable buildings, energy systems, and environmental performance. The post is based in the UCL Energy Institute, a globally recognised centre exploring how energy demand, infrastructure, and data-driven methods shape the future of the built environment.

The school integrates research, teaching, and real-world engagement to support low-carbon transitions, digital innovation, and evidence-based building performance.

Role Overview

We are seeking a Lecturer (Teaching) to contribute to two specialist postgraduate programmes:

  • MSc Smart Energy and the Built Environment (SEBE)
  • MSc Energy Systems and Data Analysis (ESDA)

The role blends teaching leadership, curriculum delivery, and student support, offering a strong platform for developing academic management experience.

Key responsibilities include:

Teaching & Curriculum Delivery

  • Leading the Data Analytics in the Smart Built Environment module
  • Teaching on Energy Data Analytics in the Built Environment
  • Contributing to related MSc and BSc teaching
  • Preparing course materials and managing Moodle resources
  • Assessment design, marking, and feedback

Programme Leadership (SEBE)

  • Acting as Course Director
  • Coordinating recruitment and programme communications
  • Supporting exam boards and curriculum development
  • Leading induction activities
  • Enhancing student experience and pastoral support
  • Academic Supervision
  • Dissertation supervision
  • Coursework assessment
  • Occasional lectures across programmes
  • This is a permanent appointment beginning August 2026.

Candidate Profile

We are looking for an educator with strong quantitative expertise and enthusiasm for applied energy analytics.

You should demonstrate:

  • A PhD (or equivalent experience) in a quantitative discipline relevant to energy demand or the built environment
  • Experience teaching statistical or analytical methods in higher education
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Commitment to student-centred learning
  • Ability to manage academic responsibilities independently
  • Visa sponsorship may be available subject to eligibility.
