About the Opportunity
Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) is offering a one-year fellowship in Paediatric Anaesthesia and Pain Medicine, starting in August 2026. This role is ideal for clinicians aiming to deepen their expertise in paediatric anaesthesia within a highly specialised tertiary care environment.
This fellowship provides structured, hands-on experience across both anaesthesia and pain medicine. It is designed to support career progression for doctors who are nearing completion of specialist training or have recently completed it and wish to pursue a subspecialty focus in paediatrics.
Please note, this is a Trust-grade fellowship and does not include a National Training Number (NTN).
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will contribute to delivering safe and effective care while continuing to develop your clinical expertise. Your duties will include:
Providing anaesthetic care for both elective and emergency paediatric cases
Participating in pain management services across the hospital
Engaging in clinical governance activities such as audits, incident reporting, and morbidity and mortality reviews
Supporting teaching and training of junior doctors and multidisciplinary staff
Taking part in quality improvement initiatives
Assisting with administrative and departmental responsibilities where required

Eligibility Criteria
Essential Qualifications
Primary medical degree (MBBS or equivalent)
Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) by the start date
FRCA qualification or equivalent level of knowledge
Essential Experience
Minimum of 3 years of higher specialist training in anaesthesia
Within 2 years before or after completion of recognised training
At least 12 months of paediatric anaesthesia experience (or equivalent)
Demonstrated interest in pain medicine
Experience in audit, teaching, and clinical governance
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
MRCP, MRCPCH, or similar
Higher academic degree (e.g., MSc, MPhil)
Paediatric life support certifications (APLS/EPALS)
Research publications or additional paediatric specialty exposure
