About the Role
This is a rewarding opportunity for a motivated and compassionate registered nurse to join a primary care team within a prison healthcare setting. Based primarily at HMP Glenochil, you may also have opportunities to work across other sites to support service needs and broaden your experience.

You’ll play a key role in improving health outcomes for a vulnerable population while developing your clinical expertise in a diverse and challenging setting.
Your Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Deliver high-quality primary care services within the prison setting
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and external agencies
- Provide holistic, patient-focused care tailored to individual needs
- Demonstrate strong clinical judgement and the ability to work independently
- Contribute to service development and innovation within prison healthcare
- Build therapeutic relationships with patients to support engagement and recovery
You’ll also be expected to:
- Adapt to a dynamic working environment
- Travel across service locations when required
- Participate in rotational duties

Working Environment
You’ll be part of a multidisciplinary team delivering integrated healthcare services in partnership with the Scottish Prison Service and other organisations. This role offers both professional challenge and the opportunity to make a meaningful difference every day.
Important Updates
From 1 April 2026, the standard full-time working week will reduce from 37 to 36 hours. Pay will remain unaffected due to an adjusted hourly rate.
Compliance & Requirements
- Membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme is required
- Flexibility to travel across service locations is essential
