Overview

This is an excellent opportunity for a forward-thinking Consultant Psychiatrist to join a transforming NHS organisation and play a key role in shaping high-quality mental health services. The post is based within Community Mental Health Teams (CMHT) on the Isle of Wight and offers a varied and meaningful clinical portfolio.

Incentive

A £30,000 Golden Hello is available for successful candidates, paid in instalments over two years (subject to terms and conditions).

Role Responsibilities

As a Consultant Psychiatrist, you will provide senior clinical leadership and oversee complex patient care across a range of services, which may include:

  • Community Mental Health Teams (CMHT)
  • Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment Teams
  • Early Intervention in Psychosis services
  • Inpatient and recovery services
  • Your work will focus on delivering safe, responsive, and patient-centred care.

Key Duties

  • Lead on the assessment and management of patients with complex and high-risk presentations
  • Apply a biopsychosocial approach to clinical formulation and care planning
  • Supervise and guide multidisciplinary teams (MDT), ensuring high standards of clinical practice
  • Promote recovery-focused care that supports independence and long-term wellbeing
  • Manage clinical risk effectively while maintaining a therapeutic and hopeful approach
  • Engage with carers, families, and partner services to ensure holistic care delivery
  • Contribute to service development, quality improvement, and clinical governance
  • Provide teaching, mentoring, and clinical supervision to colleagues

Person Requirements

Essential Qualifications

  • Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC)
  • MRCPsych (or equivalent qualification)
  • CCT in General Adult Psychiatry (or within 6 months at interview)
  • Eligibility for the Specialist Register
  • Section 12(2) approval under the Mental Health Act 1983

  • This role requires a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check
  • Skilled Worker visa sponsorship is available for eligible candidates
