Job Description
Ready for a Different Kind of Veterinary Role?
If you’re a confident small animal vet who enjoys emergency work but also values genuine time off, this could be the perfect next step.
We’re relaunching and strengthening our small animal out-of-hours provision in Moray and are looking for a capable, calm and compassionate Veterinary Surgeon to help shape the service. This is an opportunity to play a meaningful role in your local community while working a rota that truly prioritises work-life balance.
The Role
 Independent, Rewarding, Impactful
This is an emergency-focused position, ideal for a vet who:
- Is confident managing urgent and critical cases independently
- Enjoys problem-solving and making sound clinical decisions
- Communicates clearly and compassionately with clients
- Thrives in quieter but high-responsibility working patterns
You’ll provide small animal emergency cover either from our well-equipped practice or remotely from home (if locally based). For those relocating, comfortable accommodation is available during your working week.
- All work is carried out in accordance with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) professional standards
- Veterinary care is delivered in compliance with the Animal Welfare Act 2006, ensuring the highest legal standards of patient welfare
- A Rota Designed Around Real Life
- We believe exceptional care should not come at the cost of burnout.
Standard Pattern:
One week on, three weeks off
During your working week:
- Monday–Thursday: 6:00pm – 8:00am
- Friday 6:00pm – Monday 8:00am
- Saturday 8:00am–12:00pm covered by the practice
- This structure gives you three full weeks to rest, travel, pursue further study or simply enjoy life in Scotland.
- We’re also open to a one-week-on, one-week-off pattern, with salary adjusted accordingly.
- Annual leave entitlement is aligned with UK statutory guidance
Why Join Our Team?
We serve the Moray community with accessible and personalised veterinary care. After strengthening our equine and farm OOH support, we’re now reinvesting in small animal emergency services — and we’d love you to help build that future.

- Salary up to £31,000 DOE (based on 1-in-4 rota)
- Up to £7,500 relocation allowance
- Accommodation during your on-call week

- Company pension scheme (in line with UK workplace pension regulations)
- Visa sponsorship for eligible overseas applicants under the Skilled Worker route
- Cycle to Work Scheme (tax-efficient commuting support)
