About the Role

Are you an experienced operational leader with a passion for delivering exceptional healthcare? Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) is looking for a Service Manager to lead and support the day-to-day performance and management of its Cleft, Craniofacial and Plastic Surgery services.

In this role, you will shape service delivery, support continuous improvement across the Sight and Sound Directorate, and champion a culture that enhances clinical excellence and patient experience.

What You’ll Be Doing

As Service Manager you will:

  • Lead operational performance and team management across Cleft, Craniofacial and Plastic Surgery.
  • Coordinate workflow, attend to service demands, and ensure high-quality patient care.
  • Manage and support teams with clarity, empathy and purpose.
  • Develop practical solutions in a fast-moving, complex environment.
  • Drive continuous improvement in operational efficiency, safety and patient experience.

Essential Experience & Qualifications

  • Degree level education or equivalent professional experience.
  • Proven NHS operational management experience at Band 7 or similar.
  • Experience managing teams and leading transformational changes across services.
  • Familiarity with national NHS performance targets and service delivery expectations.
  • Experience contributing to business cases and financial planning.
  • For insight into NHS pay bands and roles.

Desired Skills

You will have:

  • Strong analytical skills to interpret complex data.
  • Excellent IT literacy (MS Office, NHS clinical/operational systems).
  • Ability to design and implement new processes and standard operating procedures.
  • Project management skills and experience of leading change.
