We are seeking a dedicated and ambitious Consultant in General Adult Psychiatry to join Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. This is a unique opportunity to work within a trust undergoing exciting transformation, maintaining safe, effective, and integrated mental health services.
You will provide expert clinical leadership across a range of services including inpatient care, recovery services, early intervention in psychosis, crisis resolution, home treatment, and adult (ageless) community mental health teams. This role offers the chance to influence patient care, service delivery, and professional development while making a tangible difference to local communities.

Key Responsibilities
As a Consultant Psychiatrist, you will:
Lead and provide supervision across the multidisciplinary team (MDT), ensuring high-quality, patient-centred care.
Apply evidence-based practice and recovery-focused principles to assess, plan, implement, monitor, and evaluate interventions for individuals with complex mental health needs.
- Manage a small, complex caseload, providing timely, flexible care for the most unwell or urgent patients.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments using a biopsychosocial model, integrating clinical, social, and psychological information.
- Engage effectively with carers, ward teams, and partner services to support continuity of care.
- Ensure robust risk assessment, safeguarding, and care planning aligned with statutory and organisational policies.
- Support MDTs in delivering safe care by communicating clearly, managing anxiety, and promoting recovery-oriented interventions.
- Participate in clinical governance, quality improvement, and service development initiatives.
- Provide education, supervision, and oversight for junior staff and trainees.

Essential Qualifications and Registration
- Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC)
GMC Registration - MRCPsych or recognised equivalent
- Eligible for inclusion on the Specialist Register (or within 6 months of CCT at time of interview) in General Adult Psychiatry
- Approved under Section 12(2) of the Mental Health Act 1983
