About the Department
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a dynamic and forward-thinking team within the Department of Imaging at University College London. This role is embedded in the Centre for Medical Imaging (CMI), working closely with senior leadership to support operational excellence across a highly collaborative research environment.
The department brings together four specialist centres:
- Advanced Biomedical Imaging
Radiopharmaceutical Chemistry
Computational Medicine
Medical Imaging (CMI)
Together, these centres contribute to pioneering research that spans from early-stage discovery to large-scale clinical studies, directly influencing healthcare practices and patient outcomes across the UK.
About the Role
This position offers a varied and engaging workload, ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys balancing multiple responsibilities.
You will play a central role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of departmental activities while also contributing to longer-term strategic initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-level administrative and operational support to the Head of Department
Manage complex diaries, travel bookings, and logistics (including flights and accommodation)
Coordinate departmental meetings, prepare agendas, and record accurate minutes
Support the organisation of internal and external events
Act as a central point of coordination across the department’s four research centres
Assist in the setup and delivery of clinical research studies, including regulatory processes and costing support
Contribute to project and operational planning aligned with departmental strategy
This role is particularly well-suited to candidates looking to further develop expertise in clinical research operations, project coordination, and stakeholder engagement within a university setting.

About You
You are someone who enjoys variety, problem-solving, and working collaboratively with diverse teams.
Essential Criteria
- Experience in operations, administration, or project management
Background in clinical research, healthcare, or higher education environments (desirable)
Understanding of UK clinical trials governance and regulatory frameworks
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Confident working independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
High level of attention to detail and accuracy
You will also bring a proactive mindset, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to adapt to changing demands in a busy environment.
