Hours: Full-time (up to 1.0 FTE, 37.5 hours per week). Flexible working options may be considered depending on business needs.
Salary: Grade 8, starting at £46,735 to £55,755 per annum (pro-rata for part-time).
Contract Type: Permanent

About the Role:

We are excited to offer an excellent opportunity for an experienced Higher Education professional to lead the University Student Complaints, Conduct, and Funding (CCF) service.

As the Head of Service within the Division for the Student Experience, you will play a key role on the Student Experience Leadership Group, working closely with the Director of Student Support and Wellbeing. This senior leadership position requires an individual with exceptional leadership abilities, a focus on customer excellence, and in-depth knowledge of relevant legislation. You will oversee the operation and delivery of several essential student support services, including:

  • Student Complaints
  • Student Discipline Procedures
  • Student Funding (including University means-tested funding schemes, hardship funding, and US Federal Loan administration)
  • Criminal Conviction Procedures

Your advanced written communication skills will be essential in drafting regulations, guidance, and reports. You will collaborate with colleagues across the university to ensure that policies and procedures are fit for purpose and compliant with regulatory bodies such as OfS, OIAHE, and US Government.

About You:

To succeed in this role, you will have:

  • A degree-level qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of current legislation and policies related to student funding, complaints, conduct, and discipline.
  • Proven experience in managing complex processes, prioritizing tasks, and making decisions under pressure.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to foster teamwork and collaboration across different teams.

You should have a demonstrated ability to lead, influence, and manage change, creating a culture of excellence within your team.
