About the Role

The School of Law at the University of Reading is seeking to appoint an exceptional Associate Professor in EU Law to strengthen our academic community and support our international reputation for excellence. We are looking for an individual with an established research profile, innovative teaching practice, and the ambition to contribute to the School’s strategic development.

This role offers the flexibility of full-time or part-time working arrangements and provides the opportunity to influence the future of legal education and scholarship within a forward-thinking institution.

What You Will Contribute

Research Excellence

  • Produce world-leading and internationally excellent research in EU Law.
  • Maintain a strong publication record with outputs suitable for the Research Excellence Framework (REF).
  • Develop an ambitious five-year research strategy aligned with the School’s priorities.
  • Demonstrate growing international research recognition.

Teaching & Learning

  • Deliver high-quality teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels in EU Law.
  • Provide supervision for doctoral researchers.
  • Contribute to curriculum development, pedagogical innovation, and enhancement of the student experience.

Academic Citizenship

  • Take on leadership responsibilities consistent with the expectations of an Associate Professor.
  • Support the School’s strategic initiatives and contribute positively to its academic culture.
  • Play an active role in fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.

About You

Applicants should demonstrate:

  • A strong research portfolio in EU Law, with evidence of internationally recognised excellence.
  • A capacity to produce high-quality 4* and 3* REF outputs.
  • Significant teaching experience and a student-focused approach.
  • Proven experience supervising postgraduate researchers.
  • Evidence of academic leadership and contributions to institutional development.
  • A commitment to diversity, inclusion, and collaborative working.
