About the Role
The University of Reading’s Centre for Dairy Research (CEDAR) is seeking an experienced Calf Rearer to join its commercial farm Youngstock team. This key role involves ensuring the daily care, health, and welfare of calves from birth through to weaning.
Main Responsibilities
- Provide high standards of husbandry and welfare for all calves.
- Carry out daily feeding, cleaning, and health checks.
- Monitor calf growth and development, reporting any health or welfare concerns promptly.
- Maintain accurate records of feeding, treatments, and performance.
- Work collaboratively with the wider farm team to support efficient dairy operations.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
- A solid understanding of dairy farming operations.
- Excellent stockmanship and attention to animal welfare.
- Demonstrable experience in calf rearing.
- A positive attitude and willingness to work as part of a team.
