About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Skin Integrity Specialist Sister to join our Trust-wide Skin Integrity team. In this role, you will provide expert advice, education, and clinical leadership on all aspects of skin integrity for patients, carers, and healthcare professionals. You will also support the development of clinical excellence through the implementation of policies, audits, education programmes, and research initiatives within the Trust.

This is a highly visible and influential role, allowing you to shape patient care, promote best practice, and support a culture of excellence in wound care and tissue viability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver individualised patient care based on evidence-based best practice.
  • Act as a role model for competent, accountable, and professional practice.
  • Advocate for patients and staff using ethical, legal, and professional knowledge.
  • Promote research, critical awareness, and the application of evidence-based practice.
  • Evaluate and advise on the appropriate use of skin integrity products to ensure cost-effective care.
  • Manage a clinical caseload, including patients with complex or multiple pathologies affecting skin integrity.
  • Provide cover and support across the Skin Integrity team as required by the Lead Nurse.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in delivering specialist clinical care.
  • Contribute to education and training for healthcare staff and teams across the Trust.

Person Specification

Qualifications & Training

Essential:

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience at Band 5
  • Registered Nurse (NMC)

  • Use of specialist equipment such as Doppler, NPWT, and pressure-relieving devices
  • Experience teaching theory and practical skills to staff and teams
  • Ability to assess patients with complex health and social needs

Desirable:

  • Awareness of the Doncaster Wound Care Alliance
  • Involvement in research, audit, and evaluation
