About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated Export Official Veterinarian (EOV) to join our team in Telford. This pivotal role ensures the completion of Export Health Certificates (EHCs) for some of the UK’s largest brands and exporters.
As an EOV, you will play a key role in safeguarding public and animal health, supporting the export of products of animal origin (POAO), and maintaining compliance with both UK and EU regulations. You will liaise with a variety of stakeholders, provide expert guidance, and act as an ambassador for high standards in food and animal export operations.
Key Responsibilities
Your daily tasks may include:
- Preparing and signing Export Health Certificates (EHCs) for POAO products
- Inspecting export vehicles, packaging, labelling, and finished goods
- Providing audit verification and photographic evidence of export processes
- Ensuring timely submission of export documentation
- Maintaining productive relationships with customers, government bodies, and third-party suppliers
- Monitoring stock flow, improving record accuracy, and managing compliance with customs and excise regulations (HMRC Guidance)
- Advising internal teams and stakeholders on complex food export legislation (DEFRA Export Guidance)
- Implementing process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and compliance
Essential Skills & Experience
- Education: Veterinary Medicine degree
- Professional Registration: MRCVS or eligibility to obtain it (RCVS Registration)
- Experience: Previous experience in exports or veterinary inspection preferred but not essential; comprehensive training provided
- English proficiency: Minimum IELTS Level 7
- Driving licence: Full, clean Category B licence with at least 1 year’s driving experience
- Technical skills: Intermediate to advanced IT skills including Excel, Google Sheets, and database management
- Commercial awareness: Basic understanding of third-party contracts, stock flow, and retail operations
