Role Overview

Henley Business School is seeking an ambitious and research-driven Associate Professor in Accounting to join its Finance & Accounting division. This full-time, permanent position involves a blend of research, teaching, and academic leadership, with opportunities to contribute to module administration, curriculum development, and student engagement.

The successful candidate will bring a strong record of high-quality publications in top-tier Accounting journals, as well as a clear research agenda with potential for future impact. They will also contribute to teaching across undergraduate and pre-experience master’s programmes, particularly in Accounting, Management Accounting, and Data Analytics in Accounting.

Key Responsibilities

Research

  • Conduct independent, high-impact research in Accounting.
  • Demonstrate leadership in research activities, including supervision of doctoral students.
  • Apply for and manage research grants and funding opportunities.
  • Publish consistently in top-ranked Accounting journals.

Teaching & Learning

Deliver lectures and workshops in core Accounting subjects, including Management Accounting, Financial Accounting, and Data Analytics.

  • Contribute to curriculum development and student assessment.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to undergraduate and postgraduate students.

Academic Leadership & Administration

  • Participate in departmental administration and module coordination.
  • Contribute to academic citizenship and school-wide initiatives.
  • Take on leadership roles in research or teaching projects where appropriate.

Person Specification

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • PhD in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a closely related discipline.
  • Experience teaching at university level, across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
  • Strong research portfolio with publications in top Accounting journals.
  • Expertise in data analytics applied to Accounting research or teaching.

Desirable Skills

  • Evidence of successful grant applications or research funding.
  • Experience in curriculum design and innovative teaching methods.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments and with international research partners.
