Job Description

Overview of the School

The UCL School of Management is UCL’s hub for business and management education, recognised internationally for excellence in innovation, entrepreneurship, analytics, and the study of technology-intensive organisations. With over 2,000 learners—more than half of whom are international—our School is characterised by global diversity, interdisciplinary collaboration, and a strong commitment to shaping responsible leaders.

The School works closely with departments across UCL, including engineering, computer science, psychology, economics, and public policy. Its research standing was reaffirmed in the Research Excellence Framework (REF) 2021, where it ranked among the top-performing business schools in the UK.

The Role

We are seeking an Associate Professor (Teaching) with expertise in societal impact to help shape how the School embeds societal value across its teaching, outreach, and institutional strategy.

This is a leadership-oriented education post. The successful candidate will coordinate the School’s broader activities relating to social impact while also driving new initiatives that strengthen UCL’s contribution to London and the global community. In addition to strategic responsibilities, the role may include dissertation supervision, personal tutoring, and participation in School and Faculty service activities.

The School is currently undertaking a major expansion as part of its five-year strategic plan. This appointment will play a key role in ensuring that future programmes equip students to face major societal challenges through innovative, socially responsible management practice.

Important notes:

  • This is a Teaching/Education track appointment, not part of the academic research track.
  • Applicants should provide a 1-page cover letter and a concise CV tailored to the role.
  • Do not upload publications or additional certificates.

What We’re Looking For

We encourage applications from individuals who demonstrate:

  • A PhD or equivalent qualification in management, business, or a closely aligned discipline.
  • Experience designing or leading initiatives that generate measurable societal impact in a business or academic setting.
  • A strong teaching record supported by positive evaluations and experience working with diverse student cohorts.
  • A proven commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion, with the ability to build collaborative, inclusive environments.

Benefits

UCL offers a comprehensive benefits package, including:

  • 41 days of paid leave (27 days annual leave + 8 bank holidays + 6 closure days).
  • Option to purchase an additional 5 days of leave.
  • Membership of a career average revalued earnings (CARE) pension scheme.
  • Season-ticket loan and Cycle to Work scheme.
  • Staff immigration loan.
  • Enhanced parental leave entitlements.
  • Access to the Staff Support Service and discounted private healthcare.
  • More information on employment benefits can be found through UCL Reward and Benefits.

Commitment to Equality, Diversity & Inclusion

UCL is proud to be London’s Global University and recognises that diversity fuels creativity, innovation, and excellence. We particularly welcome applications from individuals underrepresented in the higher education sector, including candidates from Black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds, LGBTQI+ communities, disabled staff, and—at senior grades—women.
