Role Overview

The Operations Manager will lead a high-performing Professional Services team, reporting to the School Manager. You will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of key functions across finance, HR, facilities, space management, and executive support.

Key responsibilities include

  • Strategic Operations Leadership: Oversee operational processes and ensure compliance with UCL and Faculty policies.
  • Team Management: Lead a multidisciplinary team, set objectives, monitor performance, and foster a collaborative and inclusive culture.
  • Financial & Resource Oversight: Support financial control, budget planning, and reporting, aligned with institutional standards.
  • Facilities & Space Management: Plan and manage resources across multiple sites, supporting operational efficiency and staff/student experience.
  • Policy & Governance: Contribute to school, faculty, and UCL-wide committees, shaping local policy and supporting strategic initiatives.
  • This role is open to internal UCL staff only and meets eligibility for a Skilled Worker Certificate of Sponsorship or Global Talent Visa.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

  • Experience in operational leadership, with the ability to manage complex, fast-paced environments.
  • Line management skills, with experience guiding multidisciplinary teams.
  • Financial and administrative expertise, including budget oversight, resource allocation, and process optimisation.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of liaising with students, staff, and external stakeholders.
  • Project and event management experience, preferably in higher education or large-scale organisations.
  • Commitment to inclusivity, fostering a positive, diverse, and high-performing environment.
  • Desirable: HR, facilities management, or higher education experience.
