About the Opportunity

An independently owned veterinary practice located in the vibrant city of Cardiff is seeking a dedicated Veterinary Surgeon to join its friendly and supportive clinical team. This modern small-animal clinic is equipped with advanced facilities and is known for delivering high-quality patient care within a collaborative working environment.

Working Pattern

  • Full-time position: 40 hours per week
  • Working schedule: 4 days per week
  • Weekend rota: 1 in 6 weekends
  • Night shifts: None

Out-of-hours care is handled by a dedicated emergency team, allowing veterinary staff to maintain a healthy work–life balance.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will provide first-opinion veterinary services and contribute to the delivery of exceptional patient care. Responsibilities include:

  • Conducting small animal consultations and health assessments
  • Performing routine and advanced surgical procedures
  • Managing ongoing medical cases and treatment plans
  • Handling urgent and emergency veterinary situations when required
  • Collaborating with veterinary nurses, support staff, and fellow clinicians
  • Maintaining accurate patient records and ensuring high clinical standards
  • Guidance on veterinary professional standards can be found through the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons.

Candidate Requirements

Essential

  • A recognised veterinary medicine degree
  • Eligibility for registration with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons
  • Competence in routine small animal medicine and surgical procedures
  • Good communication skills and a positive team-oriented mindset

  • Confidence managing emergency cases or willingness to develop this skill
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary veterinary team
  • Willingness to relocate to the UK if applying internationally

Salary and Benefits

This role offers a competitive compensation package designed to support both professional development and personal wellbeing.

Salary: £45,000 – £70,000 per year (depending on experience)
Bonus: Performance-related bonus available
