An independently owned veterinary practice located in the vibrant city of Cardiff is seeking a dedicated Veterinary Surgeon to join its friendly and supportive clinical team. Working Pattern
- Full-time position: 40 hours per week
- Working schedule: 4 days per week
- Weekend rota: 1 in 6 weekends
- Night shifts: None
Out-of-hours care is handled by a dedicated emergency team, allowing veterinary staff to maintain a healthy work–life balance.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will provide first-opinion veterinary services and contribute to the delivery of exceptional patient care. Responsibilities include:
- Conducting small animal consultations and health assessments
- Performing routine and advanced surgical procedures
- Managing ongoing medical cases and treatment plans
- Handling urgent and emergency veterinary situations when required
- Collaborating with veterinary nurses, support staff, and fellow clinicians
- Maintaining accurate patient records and ensuring high clinical standards
- Guidance on veterinary professional standards can be found through the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons.
Candidate Requirements
Essential
- A recognised veterinary medicine degree
- Eligibility for registration with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons
- Competence in routine small animal medicine and surgical procedures
- Good communication skills and a positive team-oriented mindset

- Confidence managing emergency cases or willingness to develop this skill
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary veterinary team
- Willingness to relocate to the UK if applying internationally

Salary and Benefits
This role offers a competitive compensation package designed to support both professional development and personal wellbeing.
Salary: £45,000 – £70,000 per year (depending on experience)
Bonus: Performance-related bonus available
