Veterinary Surgeon – Birkenhead(UK Visa Sponsorship)

Job Description

When the reason you became a vet still matters

If you are a Veterinary Surgeon who wants to focus on genuine clinical work — helping sick and injured animals without sales pressure, shortcuts, or targets — this role offers a chance to reconnect with the purpose behind your profession.

This is not a high-volume, profit-driven environment. It is a place where time, clinical judgment, and compassion are valued just as highly as outcomes.

About the Clinic

This opportunity is with a well-established, community-focused veterinary clinic in Birkenhead that exists to serve pets and their owners ethically and affordably.

The clinic operates as a Community Interest Company (CIC), meaning its success is measured by patient care, sustainability, and community benefit — not shareholder profit.

The Role

This position is suited to a Veterinary Surgeon with 2+ years’ experience who enjoys thoughtful, well-supported clinical work.

You will manage a varied and meaningful caseload, with exposure to both medical and surgical cases that require continuity, discussion, and professional autonomy.

There is no rigid hierarchy. Clinical decisions are shared, voices are respected, and the focus remains firmly on doing the right thing for each patient.

Clinical Environment & Facilities

The clinic has been designed to support high-quality veterinary medicine, not rushed throughput.

You will have access to:

  • 7 dedicated consulting rooms
  • Two fully equipped operating theatres
  • On-site X-ray facilities
  • Separate dog and cat wards
  • A recognised cat-friendly environment
  • Scope to expand into advanced services, including cardiac diagnostics

The Caseload

This role offers the kind of cases that keep your skills sharp and your work rewarding, including:

  • Complex orthopaedic procedures
  • Challenging internal medicine cases
  • Opportunities for collaboration and case discussion
  • Continuity of care rather than conveyor-belt consulting

Team Culture

  • The clinic operates on trust, mutual respect, and shared responsibility.
  • Vets, nurses, and support staff work as equals
  • Clinical standards always come before financial targets
  • Calm, respectful working environment
  • Low staff turnover because people feel valued

You’ll focus on settling in, getting to know the team, and becoming comfortable with systems and facilities. Support is always available.

By Three Months
